Providing mentorship & vocational development for emerging Christians of color
WHO WE ARE
Since 2019, PAX has been in the business of uplifting, promoting, and celebrating Christians of color. This began by creating beautiful, Jesus-centered content and community, cemented in values of peace, justice, and contemplation. PAX translates to ‘peace’ in Latin.
In 2023, PAX added The PAX Fellowship to its offerings. Originally intended as a place for belonging, community, and mentorship for artists, ministry leaders, and entrepreneurs of color between the ages of 22-30, the Fellowship has since expanded to include multiple cohorts serving a broader spectrum of ages from 25 - 45.
As PAX leans into its next iteration of ministry, we continue to uplift, promote, and celebrate emerging Christians of color through mentorship and vocational development opportunities.
MISSION
To provide mentorship and vocational development for emerging Christians of color through values of peace, justice, and contemplation.
VISION
A future where empowered BIPOC Christ-followers usher in peace and justice through their craft and call.
VALUES
PEACE
A future where empowered BIPOC Christ-followers usher in peace and justice through their craft and call.
JUSTICE
We connect ancient values found in the Christian tradition to everyday situations found in the world today so our fellows might be further empowered to chase after equity and fairness.
CONTEMPLATION
Like our friends at the Center for Action and Contemplation, we believe becoming rooted in contemplative practices means entering into the practice of being fully present – in heart, mind, and body – in order to creatively respond and work toward social change.
PEER LEARNING & NETWORKING
We value the benefits of increased collaboration and teamwork, problem-solving and decision-making, and creativity that naturally happens when like-minded Christians of color gather together.
EXPERT TEACHING
We seek to employ dozens of experts of color in their field in order to deliver the training and mentorship our fellows need to thrive.
PARTNERSHIP
We partner with churches, organizations, individuals, and grantmaking foundations to provide world-class training to emerging leaders of color. We believe we are stronger together than we are apart!
OUR STORY
In 2019, a group of Christian faith leaders, pastors, speakers, academics, artists, and visionaries came together to dream about transformation through the peace of Jesus. This group wondered what it would take to inspire and equip future generations to pursue peace, justice, and wholeness.
They dared believe Christians of color might lead the way toward making beautiful, Jesus-centered content and community. For the first five years of its existence, PAX poured its resources into creating 32 different resources for BIPOC Christians and churches, including contemplative resources, artwork, podcasts, online Bible studies, and blog posts. 73 BIPOC theologians, experts, artists, and everyday peacemakers were elevated in this season.
At the end of 2023, Josh Buck stepped down as Executive Director and Tiffany Bluhm, a veteran ministry and nonprofit leader, stepped up to lead the organization. As an Indian-born, Pacific Northwest-dwelling woman, Tiffany thrives at the intersection of faith and justice, and believes in building organizations that serve marginalized communities for the common good.
PAX looks to the future with great hope!
